We are leading a study exploring the experiences of computing teachers in the UK and Ireland, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Glasgow, Swansea University and the Technological University Dublin.
The study is looking in particular at intended and enacted curricula in each country, computing teachers’ classroom practice, their computing self-esteem and their engagement with professional development.
As part of this study, we ran a survey in early 2022 to gather data from computing teachers, using a localised version of the MEasuring TeacheR Enacted Computing Curriculum (METRECC) instrument which was developed by an international Working Group in 2019. Initial findings from the UKICTS study will be published through a range of papers. Read about the first paper here.
